A Sarasota County bay reef in 11 to 14 feet in Sarasota Bay proper, with 12 module deployments listed by FWC from 1999 to 2002, in 2024 and in March 2026. In its 2017-2018 monitoring the Sarasota Bay Estuary Program mapped about 1,097 modules over 1.2 to 1.6 acres, and it recorded gray snapper and sheepshead here and gag in some of the newer module designs. State waters.

How to fish it

This is the easy bay trip when the Gulf is rough. Anchor up-current on sand and fish small baits tight to the modules: sheepshead in late winter, mangrove snapper in summer. Any gag here are young fish, so release them gently.

Watch out for: Small, low-relief structure. Find it on the sounder before you anchor, keep off the grass, and remember FWC's warning that reef material can move, break down or get buried.
Rules here: Gulf reef fish gear rules apply when you target snapper or grouper. The rules to check in Sarasota inshore waters
