One of Pinellas County's oldest reefs, about 5.4 nautical miles off the beach and from the John's Pass entrance, in state water. FWC lists concrete pilings, pyramids and rubble placed in 1975 in 29 feet with about 15 feet of relief; the county gives 29 to 33 feet. FWC's 1985 culvert drops under the same name lie about 0.7 nautical miles north-northwest (two loads) and about 2.7 nautical miles northwest, beside Madeira Beach Reef (one load).

How to fish it

A short run out of John's Pass. Fish the high spots in the rubble for grouper, snapper and sheepshead, and drift or troll baits around it for mackerel when they're running.

Watch out for: Open Gulf chop. FWC rates the 1975 and 1985 positions low accuracy (LORAN conversions), and material may have moved or been buried, so look around on the sounder.
Rules here: State water: FWC's reef fish gear rules and the State Reef Fish Angler designation apply. The rules to check in Tampa Bay nearshore waters
