About 78 nautical miles due west of Egmont Key Light. North of about 28°N the line runs through Steamboat Lumps, whose center is in about 270 feet, and the 2021 federal rule on Steamboat Lumps says it lies near this contour. Fishing here means a very long run to deep reef.

How to fish it

Bring heavy bottom tackle and descending devices, and look for relief and bait on the sounder.

Watch out for: A long run, with the forecast from the National Hurricane Center's offshore zone GMZ057 past 60 nautical miles. North of about 28°10'N the contour runs through Steamboat Lumps and into the Eglin missile-test danger zone, and farther north it borders The Edges.
Rules here: Check the closed-area boundaries in 50 CFR 622.34 before you fish north of about 28°N: Steamboat Lumps is closed year-round and The Edges for part of every year. The rules to check in Tampa Bay offshore waters
