A rare patch of natural rocky bottom on a sandy coast, at the south end of Crescent Beach on Siesta Key, about 3.3 to 3.7 nautical miles south-southeast of Big Sarasota Pass. FWC's hard-bottom map outlines it, NOAA's charts show rocks awash or a few feet under the surface, and NOAA's elevation model shows about 14 feet near the middle.

How to fish it

Fish it from the beach on a moving tide: shrimp, sand fleas or fiddler crabs for sheepshead and snapper along the rock edges, and live bait or flies for snook in summer. Fish the sandy troughs on either side for pompano. Siesta Key Beach Access 13 is the nearest public access.

Watch out for: Rocks awash or just under the surface. Expect swimmers. Boats should keep to idle speed close to the beach (FWC's 2004 Sarasota boating guide quotes a county rule of idle speed within 300 feet of Gulf-front land).
Rules here: FWC's Sarasota Bay rules apply to snook and redfish. The rules to check in Sarasota nearshore waters
