The residential canal system inside Siesta Key, connecting to Roberts Bay. All of it is in the Roberts Bay (north) year-round slow-speed zone. FWC's Tampa Bay angling guide says snook use canals in the cool months, and FWC says trout move into deeper, still water in cold weather.

How to fish it

On cold days, drift or troll slowly along the dock lines with jigs or slow-sinking plugs. Sheepshead and black drum hold on the seawalls and pilings.

Watch out for: Slow speed throughout. Private docks and lifts line both sides, so keep your distance and keep the noise down.
